The ability to adapt and grow with a changing business environment has helped mid-tier accounting and advisory association, HLB Mann Judd, commemorate 40 years of operation across Australia, New Zealand and Fiji.

The Mann Judd Association was established in the early 1980s and adopted the HLB name in 1993 to reflect its membership with HLB International, the global advisory and accounting network.

According to Association chair Tony Fittler, the milestone is testament to a firm that has evolved in sync with the broader accounting profession.

“There aren’t many accounting firms who have the legacy and unique structure of HLB Mann Judd. Over the years, we’ve had to respond to a number of challenges, including economic downturns, volatility, and ongoing regulatory and legislative change – not to mention pandemics – but we’ve always remained focused on growing the Association in a sustainable and sensible way.

“The effort and skill of our partners and staff – particularly over the past couple of years – and their commitment to our core values, continues to make the organisation a destination firm. We attract quality staff and quality clients – and that doesn’t happen by accident,” he said.

Mr Fittler said the one constant over the four decades of operation has been the firms’ unwavering focus on quality client service.

“Professional service firms are only as strong as their client base. Across our network, we service a diverse range of sectors and industries – from property, hospitality, health and not for profit, for example – as well as size of clients, from small businesses and high net-worth individuals to family offices and listed companies.

“As a network, our goal is to provide market-leading, innovative and practical solutions for clients. Our partners and their staff have genuinely strong relationships with clients, and we see ourselves as an extension of their business. Many of our clients are family owned and operated, and some have been with the firms prior to the Association’s inception 40 years ago,” he said.

The firm was recently named Best Accounting & Consulting Services Firm ($50-$200 million revenue) at this year’s Client Choice Awards. It is the eighth time HLB Mann Judd has won the category, and the third consecutive year of winning the award. The Client Choice Awards recognise best practice in the professional services industry across Australia and New Zealand, and are based on client votes.

Looking ahead, Mr Fittler said the Association will continue to focus on three strategic pillars – diversity and inclusion, the environment, and communities.

“We actively participate in a number of initiatives throughout the year that are linked to these three pillars.

“As firms and as individuals, we’re in such a fortunate position to be able to give back and contribute to the greater good. It’s exciting to see the firms in the Association grow and evolve even more in this space over the coming years,” he said.

HLB Mann Judd has been a part of the international network, HLB International, since 1988. HLB International is a global network of independent professional accounting firms and business advisers, which formed in 1969. The network operates across 157 countries, with 38,732 partners and staff in 1,030 offices worldwide.
