Over the past half‑century, our clients have weathered recessions, regulatory shifts and technological cycles, yet the decade ahead promises an intensity of change unlike any in recent memory. We are committed to supporting our clients through ongoing change with confidence.
Across the region, we’ve seen a changing of the guard over the past two years. Tony Fittler’s step down as Managing Partner of the Sydney firm, and from his roles on the HLB International Executive and as HLB Mann Judd Australasian Chair, marked the end of a long period of steady leadership. Steve Grivas assumed the Managing Partner role, bringing a fresh approach. In Western Australia, the Managing Partner transition from Lucio Di Giallonardo to Norman Neill has also been smooth and well‑received. As I take on the roles of Executive Member and Australasian Chair, my focus is straightforward: making sure our association is organised, practical and ready to support clients through what comes next.
The global political landscape appears unstable. The economic environment is uncertain. Regulatory expectations continue to rise. Technology is transforming the fundamentals of how organisations operate, compete and create value. In this environment, the question clients ask most is no longer “What do the rules say?” — it is “How do we navigate what’s coming and stay ahead?”
Our association is well positioned to help answer that question. We draw strength from the diversity of our member firms across Australasia and from the deep relationships we have formed with clients who value advisers able to combine technical excellence with practical, commercial guidance. We know our markets. We know our sectors. And we care about helping the people and businesses we serve succeed.
Expanding our advisory capability
Audit, tax and business advisory remain the core of our offering, providing the trusted, technically rigorous support our clients expect. But increasingly, the issues shaping boardroom conversations and strategic decisions sit at the intersection of finance, technology and risk. To meet those needs, we have been strengthening our service lines in sustainability, technology advisory, automation, data analytics, cybersecurity, and AI‑enabled business improvement.
These growing capabilities reflect a broader shift; clients want advisers who can not only interpret financial data but also help them make sense of the digital forces reshaping their industries. They want partners who understand that technology isn’t something to “bolt on”, but something that must be embedded into the fabric of operational and strategic decision‑making. This is where our network is investing, collaborating and building — together.
Technology, AI and the future of advisory
Artificial intelligence and automation are reshaping how businesses operate, make decisions and compete. Our focus is on helping clients use these tools for better decision making to strengthen performance, manage risk and uncover new opportunities, rather than simply react to disruption.
Across the association, we are embracing AI to enhance the quality, efficiency and insights of our work. But more importantly, we are helping clients put these tools to work in ways that improve performance, streamline processes, strengthen controls and unlock new avenues for growth. The most exciting opportunities ahead will come from blending human expertise with technological capability and this is where our advisers excel.
Growing together
One of our greatest strengths is how we work together, both as an Australasian association and as part of HLB International. Our firms share ideas, resources and specialist capability so clients get the right expertise regardless of where it sits.
This means we can deliver local, practical advice backed by the depth of a global network, helping clients tackle issues that are increasingly cross‑border, technology‑driven and complex.
Our philosophy is simple: we grow when our clients grow. As an association, we remain committed to staying curious, staying connected and staying invested in the outcomes that matter most to our clients.
The landscape is changing quickly, but so are we and we are stepping confidently into this new era with unity, ambition and a clear focus on helping our clients.
