We asked Josh to share his insights on the awards and their significance to the Australian business community.

Congratulations on your recent recognition at the Melbourne Asia Game Changer Awards 2024. Could you tell us a little more about the award?

I was honoured to be a finalist in the Business Award category, which recognises individuals who have made significant contributions to fostering business growth and collaboration, particularly within the context of Asia-Australia relations. This award celebrates leadership, innovation and the ability to create lasting impact through cross-cultural engagement.

For me, winning this award highlights the importance of building bridges between diverse markets and the role that organisations, like HLB Mann Judd, play in these connections.

What makes this recognition so special?

This recognition is incredibly special to me, as it represents the intersection of my personal journey and professional mission. Growing up with strong ties to both Australia and Asia, I’ve always recognised and valued the potential for collaboration between these regions.

This award is more than a personal achievement – it reflects the incredible support and opportunities provided by HLB Mann Judd and the broader business community. It also underscores the importance of cultural understanding and innovation in driving meaningful progress.

How has head of tax at HLB Melbourne influenced your role in the business community?

The accounting and tax profession provides a unique platform to connect with a diverse range of clients and industries. It’s not just about providing technical expertise – it’s about understanding the broader business landscape and helping clients navigate challenges with confidence.

Over the years, and now in the role of tax partner at HLB Melbourne, I’ve been able to foster relationships that go well-beyond transactions. It’s about contributing to strategic discussions, mentoring emerging talent, and advocating for collaboration within the business community.
