Meet Matt, a partner in HLB Mann Judd Sydney’s restructuring & risk team. He joined the firm in 2005 and works with clients in distressed situations to provide advisory and restructuring advice and handles voluntary administrations and liquidations. Matt is also a new dad to Hallie. Ahead of Father’s Day we asked Matt how HLB has supported him throughout his parental journey.
Tell us a little about yourself
I grew up in Adelaide and moved to Sydney after university, where I’ve built both my career and personal life. I enjoy spending time with family and friends, and I’m passionate about staying active – going to the gym and running is a regular part of my routine.I’m also a keen AFL fan and love the energy and excitement of the game.
I have just celebrated my 20 year anniversary at HLB Mann Judd Sydney, having started as a fresh-faced cadet in 2005. Recently I become a father and welcomed my first child, Hallie.
How has the firm supported you?
I’m incredibly grateful to HLB Mann Judd Sydney for the flexibility and support it has provided when I recently became a father for the first time. This has been a very special time in my life and being able to spend meaningful time with my newborn while continuing to contribute professionally has made a huge difference. The understanding and encouragement from colleagues and leadership has allowed me to be present for my family without compromising my responsibilities, and I truly value being part of a workplace that recognises the importance of balance and wellbeing.

Any advice for your colleagues who are adding to their family?
Being a parent is an incredible rewarding experience, just enjoy it. Take advantage of the support that the firm provides to take the time to spend with your new family.
How do you plan on spending Father’s Day this year?
We are planning a trip to the beach and having breakfast/lunch with my family.
